All week I have been in General Orientation...learning policies, procedures and basically gettin rid of the paper work. And now...finally tomorrow I will be on the floor...where the real work begins. I am excited to say the least. I am not a mornng person, hence I picked night shift..but as expected I have to do some morning shifts to get the lay of the land so to speak.
So tomorrow @ 630 I will begin my 12 hr long shift. This is the first time I will be doing 12 hrs straight..and I am hoping I can hang. My strategy is early preparation. I have ironed my uniform for the entire week and now am in the middle of packing my bag. I hope to pick up a few grocery stuff along the way..snacks to take me through the day..mainly fruits and water.
And rest! my main goal.
I have been in vacation type mood since I arrived here and its time to get down to the nity gritty. But unlike before ...even now as I know work begins tomorrow I am still in a relaxed state of mind. Its either I am still in vacation mode or I am happy and I am taking a while to recognize this is what happiness feels like. My stress level is at 0...which is saying alot...since I am Ms. Stressed.....I am a walking Ulcer. But now ...right now...I am in the Relaxed Bubble I built for myself. I am afraid its going to burst..and ofcourse with this fear comes my inability to not let down my guard. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop....the "oh-Shit" of life that never fails to happen.
I dont want to wait for that....today I did something I would have never done in NY. I left the windows of my car down and went into a store...gasps* I know.
I went and bought a pizza and while leaving my car I didnt bother to turn up the windows...either I lost my mind or the bubble of Chattanooga has encircled me. I cannot think its that safe here. Hell I know its not..I checked the Crime Statistics for the past 3 yrs. But yet I felt confident enough to do so. In NY the thought would have never even crossed my mind.
Anyway I need to finish my preparations. Talk to you all in a few days...knowing me ..after 2 , 12hr shifts I doubt I will be talkative till then.
